The organisers

Claudia and Oliver Hirtenfelder are a married couple who have found a way of combining their seemingly different professions. That said, the campaign would not have been possible without the valuable input of friends, colleagues and, of course, the participants.

The concept coordinator

Claudia Towne Hirtenfelder is a researcher who specialises in gender related affairs. She has an MSc in the Social Studies of Gender from Lund University in Sweden and she has worked as a researcher at the Africa Institute of South Africa (AISA), a division of the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC). Although her current research circulates labour, tourism and gender relations Claudia has always been fascinated by the ability of language and discourse to not only inform but shape behaviour. Claudia is the concept coordinator and analyst behind the campaign.

The photographer

Oliver Hirtenfelder is a photographer. He is primarily an automotive photographer but also spends some of his time on other projects, such as portrait and landscape photography. He has a BTech in Photography from the Tswane University of Technology. Since Claudia's return from Sweden, Oliver and Claudia have engaged in intense debates about gender, sometimes not finding common ground but more often than not expanding their own points of view. Oliver is now exploring other ways he can use his talent as a photographer to be more socially conscious. You can see more of his work on his website or follow him on Facebook.
